Chico’s Meriam Park mixeduse development attracts savvy buyers looking for convenience
Spread across more than 230 acres, Meriam Park in Chico is a mixedused development that combines working, dining, shopping and sustainable living all within walking distance of each other.
“Meriam Park has all the essential ingredients to building a community: gathering spaces, quality food, health and wellness, safe and smart housing solutions, and areas for businesses to incubate and grow,” said Dan Gonzales developer of Meriam Park.
Connecting all the spaces of Meriam Park is a “Green River” an open space that unites every resident to the regional trail network and Bidwell Park.
Shops at Meriam Park include a jeweler, salon, coffee shop, juice bar and restaurant. Venues planning to open July are a nail salon, tanning salon, fitness studio, indoor plat retailer, ice cream shop and event center. There’s also a courthouse, Veteran’s Affairs clinic, and 60,000 square feet of other small commercial and “maker” businesses currently operating.
Alley Kitchen, Meriam Parks’ shared commercial kitchen resides in the Tank District’s Maker Building and offers chefs of all skill levels a place to practice and hone their skills. The kitchen has three separate areas and a total of 3,240 square feet.
Gonzales refers to the Tank District as the community’s heartbeat, as it provides a basecamp for openair experiences and a social center for all.
Adjacent to the Thrive District, the Dwell Residential District offers contemporary single and multifamily residences with an active senior living neighborhood component. Urban flats and town homes are beginning to front courtyards and streets amid community gardens and soontobe neighborhood parks, all in a pedestrianand bikefriendly setting.
Both singlefamily residences and apartment homes are available at Meriam Park. A variety of architectural styles and floor plans are available. Contemporary, midcentury, Mediterranean and bungalow abodes are just a few of the design styles available within the community.
Apartments are sometimes located above commercial spaces and reside among thriving retail corridors within the community.
“Expect a diverse supply of housing types from mixed use, live/work, town homes as well as entry level homes and flats,” Gonzales said. He feels it will be an attractive alternative to people and companies looking for an alternative to high density cities, not to mention significantly more affordable.
The master planned assortment of living, working and recreating, provides the framework for developing a sense of community, but it is the curated uses and people which are the threads that weave it together. Meriam Park is happening, it is gaining momentum, and with that, a growing excitement and anticipation.
