As expected, BottleRock Napa Valley, the luxe Wine Country music festival that boasts toptier touring acts alongside regional food and wine offerings, is canceled for this year due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Instead, the threeday festival, which traditionally kicks off Northern California’s summer outdoor concert season over Memorial Day weekend with some 120,000 attendees, will take place May 2830, 2021, organizers announced Thursday, July 16.

This year’s BottleRock was originally scheduled for May 2224 at the Napa Valley Expo but was postponed until Oct. 24 when shelterinplace orders were put into effect in March.

“Although Napa County has one of the lowest COVID19 case counts in the Bay Area, we are not ready for a large public gathering such as BottleRock Napa Valley in 2020,” said County Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Relucio in a statement. “Events like BottleRock fall under Governor Newsom’s Stage 4 plan for reopening, which we will not achieve prior to October. These decisions are not taken lightly with the knowledge that many people will be impacted. Our first priority is the health of the community.”

This year’s scheduled headliners — Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band and Stevie Nicks — are committed to appear at the new dates in 2021, festival officials confirmed.

“While we had hoped to share our festival’s great music, wine, food and incredible Napa Valley hospitality this year, we know this is the best decision for everyone involved,” said Dave Graham, a partner at BottleRock Napa Valley. “We are also confident that not only will we be able to present much of the same lineup, but we’ll be announcing some additional surprise acts.”

The complete 2021 festival lineup will be announced at a future date.

All BottleRock 2020 passes will be valid next year. Current ticket holders will receive an email from festival officials within the next few weeks with further details, including information about exchanges and refunds.
