Outside Lands moving Inside
Twoday event on Twitch to feature mix of past shows and new content
With no concerts happening in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park this year, the promoters of the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival are hoping to make it up to fans by bringing the live experience into their homes.
Inside Lands, which is scheduled to run Aug. 2829, is a twoday virtual event that will feature past Outside Lands performances, premiere new livestream content, and highlight the local small businesses and individuals that shape the annual festival, promoter Another Planet Entertainment announced on Thursday, Aug. 6.
The virtual festival will be streamed for free each day exclusively on Twitch, where fans will be able to interact with each other in a way that resembles the festival experience — hopefully with cleaner restrooms and less bonechilling fog.
“While we wish we were able to gather in Golden Gate Park this August, we are still looking forward to taking Outside Lands inside and celebrating all that makes the festival such a memorable experience,” Allen Scott, head of concerts and festivals at Another Planet Entertainment, said in a statement.
The full lineup, schedule and additional programming details for Inside Lands will be announced closer to the broadcast date.
In June, Another Planet officially canceled the festival for the year due to the coronavirus pandemic. But the promoter hopes to bring the threeday outdoor musical celebration back to the park Aug. 68, 2021, with a lineup featuring headliners the Strokes, Lizzo and Tame Impala.
Scott said Another Planet will work directly with the city’s and state’s public health officials to implement best practices when the inperson festival resumes.
