Crawford’s 48 saves help Chicago survive

Corey Crawford made 48 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Vegas Golden Knights 31 on Sunday night to stay alive in their Western Conference firstround playoff series in Edmonton, Alberta.

Vegas leads the bestofseve­n series 31.

“It’s probably as good as he’s ever been,” Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith said of Crawford. “I don’t know what the shots were, but they had a lot of shots and he made himself big every time . ... He was our best player tonight.”

Drake Caggiula and Matthew Highmore scored firstperio­d goals for the Blackhawks, and Alex DeBrincat added an emptynette­r with 10 seconds left.

Stars 5, Flames 4: Alexander Radulov tipped in John Klingberg’s shot 16:05 into overtime as Dallas evened its Edmontonba­sed West series with Calgary at 2-2. The Stars forced the extra period when former Sharks captain Joe Pavelski completed a hat trick in the final seconds of regulation.

Islanders 2, Capitals 1: Mathew Barzal scored 4:28 into overtime as New York beat Washington in Toronto for a 3-0 advantage in their Eastern Conference series.

Flyers 1, Canadiens 0: Carter Hart, pulled from the net in his previous start after allowing four goals, stopped 23 shots to lead Philadelph­ia past Montreal in Toronto. The Flyers lead the East series 2-1.

Injury report: Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour told the Charlotte (N.C.) News & Observer that wing Andrei Svechnikov, who was second on the team with 24 goals this season, is unlikely to play again in this postseason because of a leg injury suffered in Game 3 of an East series with the Bruins.
