Mickelson up by 4 in Champions debut

-

Phil Mickelson considered the most important hole in the second round of his PGA Tour Champions career not one of his eight birdies but his bogey.

He was 5under after the front nine at Ozarks National in Ridgedale, Mo., when he hit driver at the par4 10th. Mickelson couldn’t find his ball in heavy rough, forcing him to take a penalty stroke. He made a long putt to salvage bogey.

His 7underpar 64 left him 17under, four shots clear of Tim Petrovic and Rod Pampling.
