Nationals’ Strasburg undergoes surgery

-

Washington righthander Stephen Strasburg, the 2019 World Series MVP, underwent surgery Wednesday to correct a hand and wrist issue, manager Dave Martinez said.

Strasburg, diagnosed with carpal tunnel neuritis, was 01 with a 10.80 ERA in two starts.

Strasburg will not be allowed to rehab at Nationals Park because of MLB’s coronavirus restrictions.

“He’s got to kind of stay away at another site,” Martinez told MLB.com. “Until he gets ready to do baseball activity, that’s all he can do. It’s definitely different. Before, we’d have him here with us — the days when we’d go on the road, we’d keep one of our trainers back and they’d be rehabbing here.”
