Padres’ Pham stabbed in back
San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is recovering after he was stabbed in the back Sunday night, authorities said.
Pham was stabbed shortly after 10: 30 p. m. outside the Pacers Showgirls International gentlemen’s club, police Lt. Shawn Takeuchi told the San Diego UnionTribune.
Pham apparently didn’t know the attackers, who remain at large, he said.
“While it was a very traumatic and eyeopening experience for me, I’m on the road to recovery and I know I’ll be back to my offseason training routine in no time,” Pham said in a statement released by the team. Minnesota Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco is recovering from surgery on his right ankle for a second straight offseason.
Football: Kansas State quarterback Skylar Thompson will miss the rest of the season after surgery on his throwing shoulder. Freshman Will Howard will lead the No. 22 Wildcats. Vanderbilt’s game at Missouri on Saturday was postponed because COVID19 issues left the Commodores short of players. It’s the first SEC game to be postponed this season.

The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to oneyear contracts with forwards Mattias Janmark and Lucas Wallmark. The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Tyler Toffoli to a fouryear deal.
Soccer: MLS said Colorado Rapids matches have been postponed for 10 days. The league said there were no new confirmed coronavirus cases among players or staff but the move was made because of the number of cases in the organization.
Obituary: Hall of Fame trainer Gary Jones, who oversaw Hall of Fame horse Best Pal and 1986 Older Horse of the Year Turkoman, died Sunday at his home in Del Mar. He was 76.
