Nations reopen closed borders

Brazil and Paraguay have reopened borders that were closed for more than six months due to the pandemic.

Brazil’s Foreign Relations Ministry said international traffic on the Friendship Bridge between Foz do Iguacu in Brazil and Paraguay’s Ciudad del Este is the first step in a gradual plan to lift restrictions.

Foz do Iguacu lost 5,700 jobs as a result of the border closings.
