Just number the schools

-

There can be little argument that some school names must be changed.

The School Names Advisory Committee listed seven criteria for renaming. Creating the criteria and applying them to the city’s 125 public schools took time. Making a list of acceptable names will take much more time.

Rather than renaming each school, one by one, and risking objection to new names, perhaps the school system can do what others have done.

Don’t rename the schools. Number them. All of them. That way, in one easy exercise, those who perpetrated genocide or slavery, those who exploited or abused any class of people will be gone, never to return.

In a year of seemingly insurmountable educational and other challenges, let San Francisco once again lead the way. And who could object to numbers?
