Schauffele takes lead near Las Vegas
Xander Schauffele made seven bridies in an eighthole stretch for a careerbest 29 on the back nine, but settled for an 8underpar 64 and a threeshot lead at 14under 130 over Tyrrell Hatton ( 68) after the second round of the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek near Las Vegas.
Russell Henley ( 68) was another shot back. Schauffele played alongside PGA champion Collin Morikawa, a Cal alum, who shot a 65 and moved to 8under.
Brooks Koepka, who was 6under through 13 holes, had to settle for a 68. He was 10 shots behind.
Jon Rahm, who can return to No. 1 in the world with a victory this week, shot 73 and was 10 strokes behind.
