Military crash: The two crew members who died when a U. S. Navy training plane out of Florida crashed in a residential neighborhood near Foley, Ala., were identified Sunday as an instructor pilot — Rhiannon Ross, 30 — and a student aviator — Morgan Garrett, 24. The two were on a routine training flight Friday out of Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Fla., said Zach Harrell, spokesman for Commander, Naval Air Forces. Images showed smoke billowing from a home and at least two vehicles in the area on the Gulf Coast where the aircraft crashed around 5 p. m. Friday. No one on the ground was injured.

Homeless attacks: A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with attacks on homeless people in Southern California, police said. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office investigated at least three attacks dating back to midJune. In one incident, someone threw a rock at the head of a sleeping victim in Thousand Oaks. In another, a victim was struck by a vehicle and the driver fled. Detectives conducting surveillance eventually identified Ali Assadi Tehrani, 41, as a suspect, the Ventura County Star reported. Officials described Tehrani as homeless but didn’t indicate a possible motive. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

Boys killed: Authorities found two girls who were abducted from a Kansas home where two boys were found dead Saturday, and a suspect is in custody. The girls were found by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation identified them as Aven Jackson, 3, and Nora Jackson, 7. An Amber Alert said the suspect in the abduction is the girls’ father, Donny Jackson. Leavenworth County Emergency Management said Jackson also is a person of interest in the homicides. The boys — 11 and 14 — are believed to be the girls’ siblings.

Clinic attack: A man has admitted he intentionally crashed a stolen truck into a Planned Parenthood clinic in East Orange, N. J., injuring two patients and a staff member. Marckles Alcius, 34, of Lowell, Mass., pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and being in possession of the stolen truck, which was used as a weapon. Prosecutors alleged Alcius was trying to destroy the clinic when he crashed the bakery truck into the waiting room on Feb. 14, 2018. Alcius admitted he targeted the clinic and was willing to die, prosecutors said. Three women, including two patients who were at the clinic for routine medical care, were injured. One of the women was pregnant. Alcius faces a 10year prison term at sentencing in January.

Law officers had stopped a semi in Laredo on Friday and found people inside, said Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Rick Pauza.
