Champions League gets female referee
UEFA appointed Stephanie Frappart as the first female referee for a men’s Champions League game.
The French official will take charge of Juventus hosting Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
Frappart is regarded as the top referee in women’s soccer and was picked by FIFA for the 2019 Women’s World Cup final in her home country.
She awarded a penalty after a video review that was scored by Megan Rapinoe to give the United States the lead in a 20 win over the Netherlands.
College football: The quarterback for 10thranked Indiana, Michael Penix Jr., will miss the rest of this season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The junior was injured in the third quarter of Saturday’s victory over Maryland. Jack Tuttle, a redshirt sophomore who started his career at Utah, will replace Penix. The Hoosiers visit No. 18 Wisconsin on Saturday. Penix leads the Big Ten in completions ( 124), yards passing ( 1,645) and touchdown passes ( 14).
