QB Wilson lifts BYU in likely college finale

Zach Wilson threw for 425 yards with three touchdown passes and two rushing scores as No. 13 BYU routed UCF 4923 in the Boca Raton Bowl in Florida on Tuesday night.

Wilson, considered a top NFL prospect, completed 26 of 34 in what likely was his final college game.

The Cougars ( 111) led 3510 at halftime and finished with 655 yards of offense to UCF’s 411.

Tyler Allgeier carried 19 times for 173 yards and a score. Isaac Rex had five catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns as BYU earned its first victory in nine games it has played in the Sunshine State.

Dillon Gabriel was 21for45 for 217 yards and two TDs for the Knights ( 64).

Idaho Potato Bowl: Carson Strong threw for 271 yards and five touchdowns, Devonte Lee and Toa Taua each ran for over 100 yards, and Nevada ( 72) beat Tulane 3827 in Boise, Idaho. Cameron Carroll rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown for Tulane ( 66), one of 19 schools to play 11 regularsea­son games amid the pandemic.

New Auburn coach? Auburn and Boise State’s Bryan Harsin are finalizing a deal for him to be head coach. Harbin, 44, is 6919 with three Mountain West titles in seven seasons at Boise State, his alma mater.

Pac12 honors: Stanford wide receiver Simi Fehoko and lineman Drew Dalman were named firstteam allconfere­nce on offense. Cal defensive back Cameron Bynum was firstteam defense.

Players of the Year were Colorado running back Jarek Broussard on offense and USC safety Talanoa Hufanga on defense. Colorado’s Karl Dorrell was Coach of the Year.

Bowl canceled: The Gasparilla Bowl was canceled after South Carolina withdrew from a matchup against UAB because of its virus issues.
