Linda Kathleen Callahan Espy

-

Linda Kathleen Callahan Espy, known to many as “Auntie Linda,” took her final breath on December 20, 2020. While she was born a die-hard Giants fan in San Francisco on the 20th of May in 1948, she also loved her “Cubbies.” After graduating from Star of the Sea Academy in 1966, Linda signed on to work with The City of San Francisco where she dedicated her 38-year long career to her beloved city by the bay.

While Linda is no longer with us, her family and friends will always carry with them the lessons she taught them: Be generous. Always bring desserts-yes, plural. Lean into your laughter. Stand up for what you believe in. Turn up the music. Send cards even if just to say, “I love you.” Support public television. Drink good coffee. Share your roses.

Left with decades of fond and colorful memories are her husband of 31 years Tom; stepdaughter Lara; grandson Jagger; brother James (Mary Jo) Callahan; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Catherine Clements; nieces Shannon Callahan, Savannah (goddaughter) and Carly Clements, Jennifer, Kimberly (goddaughter) and Tessa Johung; nephew Ian Callahan; grandnephew Elliot Callahan; lifelong friends, who were always on speed dial, Loretta Johung and Kathy Place. Linda is also survived by an extended network of friends whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen and John Callahan.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to St. Anthony’s Dining Room at 121 Golden Gate Ave Floor 1, San Francisco, CA 94102. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date when it’s safe to honor her in the way she deserves.
