Late surge helps Magic snap Clippers’ streak

Chuma Okeke scored 18 points and the Orlando Magic rallied in the fourth quarter to snap Los Angeles’ sixgame winning streak Tuesday night, defeating the host Clippers 10396.

The Magic didn’t have the lead until late in the fourth quarter and went on a 173 run to close the game. Kawhi Leonard made a pair of free throws to give the Clippers a 9386 lead with 2:36 remaining before the Magic scored 11 straight points to take the lead.

Terrence Ross tied it at 93 with 1:46 remaining on two free throws, and Wendell Carter Jr. put the Magic in front with 1:10 remaining with a tipin after James Ennis III missed a layup, making it 9594.

Ross scored 15 points and Otto Porter Jr. added 13 for the Magic, who snapped a sevengame road losing streak.

Leonard scored 28 points for the Clippers. Luke Kennard added 17 points and Ivica Zubac tallied his 10th doubledoub­le of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers.

Suns 117, Hawks 110: Devin Booker scored 21 points, Dario Saric added 20 and Phoenix held on in the final minutes to beat Atlanta at home. The Suns have won six of their past seven games, while the Hawks have dropped four of five.

Hornets 114, Wizards 104: Terry Rozier scored 27 points, Gordon Hayward had 26 points and a seasonhigh 11 rebounds and Charlotte won in Washington. The Hornets have won four of five after losing Rookie of the Year favorite LaMelo Ball to a fractured right wrist. The Wizards played without NBA leading scorer Bradley Beal for the second straight game due to a bruised right hip.

Nuggets 104, 76ers 95: Jamal Murray scored 30 points as host Denver raced out to a 25point lead on its way to a win over Philadelph­ia. Nikola Jokic added 21 points for the Nuggets, who played in front of a home crowd for the first time since the pandemic shut down the 201920 season in midMarch of last year. Murray scored 16 points and Michael Porter Jr. had 15 as the Nuggets jumped out to a 4422 lead after one quarter.
