Celtics use 313 run to top redhot Nuggets

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown fueled a 313 run that helped the Boston Celtics cool off the NBA’s hottest team with a 10587 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

The host Nuggets looked well on their way to their ninth straight victory when they took a 7965 lead in the third quarter on a 3pointer by Facundo Campazzo, but Boston outscored the Nuggets 408 the rest of the way. The Celtics had been held to 16 firstquart­er points and trailed by 14 early on.

Brown started the epic run with a nifty bucket and Tatum provided the biggest highlights, including eight straight points on three free throws, a jumper and a 3pointer.

Tatum finished with 28 points two days after a careerbest 53 points against Minnesota. Pelicans 116, Cavaliers 109: Zion Williamson scored 38 points and Brandon Ingram had 27 points and eight assists in rallying New Orleans on the road. Williamson made 16 of 22 field-goal attempts and had nine rebounds as the Pelicans moved to one game behind the Warriors for the final play-in tournament spot in the West.

Clippers 131, Pistons 124: Marcus Morris scored 33 points and Paul George had 32 for L.A. at home. Cory Joseph (18 points, 13 assists), Josh Jackson (26 points) and Saddiq Bey (25 points) led Detroit.

Heat 107, Trail Blazers 98: Bam Adebayo scored 22 points and Jimmy Butler added 20 to lead visiting Miami. CJ McCollum and Norman Powell each finished with 17 points for Portland, which had 17 turnovers.

Spurs 119, Mavericks 117: DeMar DeRozan hit the tie-breaking jumper with 0.5 of a second left, giving him 27 of his 33 points in the second half and lifting San Antonio in Dallas.

Knicks 102, Raptors 96: Julius Randle scored 26 points and New York recovered to beat visiting Toronto after blowing an 18-point lead.

Timberwolv­es 121, Bulls 117: KarlAnthon­y Towns had 27 points and 12 rebounds and D’Angelo Russell scored 27 points as Minnesota won at home.

Pacers 132, Grizzlies 125: Caris LeVert scored 34 points, Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis fell just short of triple-doubles and Indiana held off host Memphis.

Bucks 124, Magic 87: Khris Middleton scored 21 points, Bobby Portis added 16 points and 10 rebounds and visiting Milwaukee ended a three-game skid.

Hawks 105, Hornets 101: Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 32 points and Atlanta rallied to win in Charlotte without Trae Young, who was out with a left calf contusion.
