Angels’ Fowler has torn ACL

-

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Dexter Fowler has a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

Fowler’s injury will require surgery, and his recovery time is expected to be at least six months.

“Comeback season has commenced,” Fowler said Sunday. “The cards I’ve been dealt, so you’ve got to deal with them and go at it like that.”

Fowler, 35, said he doesn’t think the injury, suffered Friday while running the bases, is careerending.

“I want to continue to play,” he said. “I think I’ve still got a lot left in the tank.”

Fowler, who hit .250 with one RBI in seven games, will be a free agent after the season.

Cabrera out: Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was placed on the injured list Sunday after he told manager AJ Hinch that he felt his biceps “grab” during an atbat in the seventh inning Saturday.

“I’m concerned when you put a guy on the injured list like this, but I don’t know how to diagnose it other than to give him some rest opportunities and then have our doctors tell me what they think,” Hinch said.

Cabrera, 37, has 2,869 hits and 488 homers in his career.

Medical report: Tigers righthander Julio Teheran, who went on the 10day IL on Saturday after experiencing tightness in his right biceps Friday while warming up for a start, was moved to the 60day IL on Sunday. ... Phillies reliever Archie Bradley went on the IL because of an oblique strain . ... Cardinals outfielder Tyler O’Neill was placed on the IL because of a groin strain.
