Darvish quiets Bucs, Myers has five RBIs

Yu Darvish gave the Padres’ overworked bullpen most of the night off, allowing three hits in seven dominant innings, and Wil Myers drove in five runs as San Diego won 62 in Pittsburgh on Monday night.

Darvish struck out six and walked one as the Padres won their fourth straight. San Diego relievers entered having worked a majorleagu­ehigh 43 innings, 81⁄3 in Texas on Sunday after starter Adrian Morejon left in the first with an injury.

“It’s no secret what we had to do yesterday,” San Diego manager Jayce Tingler said. “For Yu to go out and give us those seven innings was huge.”

Myers hit a tworun homer to center field in the sixth to put San Diego in front to stay. He added an RBI single in the first and a tworun single in the seventh.

Tigers 6, Astros 2: Casey Mize tossed seven scoreless innings in his first career win and fellow rookie Akil Baddoo homered again for visiting Detroit.

Rays 1, Rangers 0: Tyler Glasnow struck out a careerhigh 14 in 72⁄3 innings and Willy Adames homered in the seventh for host Tampa Bay.

Yankees 3, Blue Jays 1: Kyle Higashioka homered twice to support Gerrit Cole, and New York won in Toronto’s temporary home at its spring training ballpark in Dunedin, Fla.

Marlins 5, Braves 3: Garrett Cooper had three RBIs for visiting Miami and drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning.

Brewers 6, Cubs 3: Pinchhitte­r Luis Urias drove in three runs with a go-ahead double and host Milwaukee scored six times in the sixth inning. Nationals 5, Cardinals 2: Kyle Schwarber doubled in a run in his delayed Nationals debut, and Andrew Stevenson added a pinch-hit homer for visiting Washington.

White Sox 4, Indians 3: Cleveland first baseman Yu Chang hit Yasmani Grandal with a throw trying to force him at second base as Nick Madrigal scored the winning run in the ninth for host Chicago.

Angels 10, Royals 3: Shohei Ohtani had three hits and three RBIs, and Mike Trout hit a two-run homer, leading visiting Los Angeles over Kansas City. Ohtani hit a two-run double off Scott Barlow in the seventh that came off the bat at 119 mph, according to Statcast. Three games postponed: Minnesota postponed its series opener against Boston because of safety concerns after a fatal police shooting in a Minneapoli­s suburb. There was no word about rescheduli­ng or the status of games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday . ... Seattle’s series opener in Baltimore was called off because of rain and will be made up in a doublehead­er Tuesday. ... The Phillies-Mets game at Citi Field was called off with rain en route and reschedule­d as part of a doublehead­er Tuesday.
