Lola May De Leone

Lola May De Leone, age 95, died peacefully at home in the Sunset District on July 6, 2021. She was born in Portland, OR on October 17, 1925 to the late Marcella and Charles Heagney. Lola May grew up in Portland, OR, and after graduating from the Madeline High School, she attended the University of Oregon where, in 1947, she received a B.S. in Psychology. She moved to San Francisco in 1951 and worked as a social worker for the City and County of San Francisco for 15 years. In 1965, Lola married the late Joseph De Leone and devoted the remainder of her life to her children, grandchild­ren and her community. Lola was an active member of her church and volunteere­d for many years as a docent at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She enjoyed attending the symphony and loved to travel and discuss the time she spent in Europe. She leaves behind her son Charles De Leone and wife Kathleen; daughter Anna Marie De Brine and husband Keith; daughter Laura Kaarls and husband Alexander; grandchild­ren Joe, Christina, Elizabeth, William, Eric, Danielle, Mia, Clara and Ted. She will be greatly missed by her devoted family and many friends.

Friends may view on Sunday, July 18th from 5-8 PM and are invited to the Vigil service at 7:30 PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary in Daly City. The Celebratio­n of Life Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 19th, at Saint Gabriel’s Church on 40th and Ulloa. Donations to Saint Gabriel’s Parish or your favorite charity.
