Norma Villaluna Menchavez

-

On Sunday, July 4th, 2021, Norma Elizabeth Villaluna Menchavez, loving wife, mother of nine children, beloved Grandy, and cherished auntie passed away peacefully at age 91.

Norma was born on May 14, 1930 in Batangas, Philippines to Ina and Albert Tatton. As American citizens, twelve year old Norma and her family had to leave the Philippines for the US to escape the perils of WWII. Norma built a resilient life for her family in San Francisco. She was an entrepreneur, a long-time employee of Greyhound and a proud member of the Amalgamated Transit Workers (ATW) Union for over thirty years. On September 29, 1989 Norma married Alex Menchavez and together they lived a robust life of love that was full of dancing and great food. Norma was a dedicated member of Banal Na Pagaaral (BNP), a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Dominic’s Parish. She found joy spending time with her extended family, loved going to the casino, was never afraid to speak her mind and was an exceptional collector of shoes.

Norma leaves behind her husband, Alex; her eight grown children; her sixteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Her brothers Eddie and Jimmy will carry on the Tatton legacy. We are confident she was greeted with joy by her daughter Loreen in heaven.

Norma’s sacrifice, resilience, love, and contagious laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of her family.
