Highlighti­ng performanc­es of athletes with Bay Area ties at the Olympics:

Draymond Green (Warriors), U.S. men’s basketball: Had five assists, two rebounds and two steals for the U.S. in an 87-82 win over France to win his second Olympic men’s basketball gold medal.

Foluke Akinradewo Gunderson (Stanford), U.S. women’s volleyball: Scored eight points in the U.S. team’s semifinal victory over Serbia in straight sets. Grant Fisher (Stanford), U.S. track and field: Finished ninth in the 5,000-meter final, crossing with a final time of 13:08:40. Chelsea Gray (Hayward/St. Mary’s), U.S. women’s basketball: Played 24 minutes off the bench and contribute­d 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting.

Luis Grijalva (Fairfield), Guatemala track and field: The DACA dreamer, running for Guatemala instead of the U.S., finished 12th in the 5,000 meters with a personal best of 13:10.09. Alix Klineman (Stanford), U.S. women’s beach volleyball: Paired with veteran April Ross, Klineman earned gold in her first Olympics, beating Australia’s Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 21-15, 21-16. Mackenzie Little (Stanford), Australia track and field: Finished eighth in the javelin finals. Robyn Stevens (San Jose State), U.S. racewalkin­g: The 38-year-old runner raced in the 20-kilometer women’s final, finishing 33rd (best among American women) with a time of 1:37:42, 8:30 behind winner Antonella Palmisano of Italy. Men’s water polo: In the U.S. team’s 7-6 victory over Italy for 5th-8th classifica­tion, Alex Bowen (Stanford), Luca Cupido (Cal), Ben Hallock (Stanford), Drew Holland (Orinda, Stanford), Johnny Hooper (Cal), Alex Obert (Loomis/UOP), Ben Stevenson (UOP) and Dylan Woodhead (San Anselmo, Stanford) all played a part.
