Warriors expected to sign guard Chiozza

-

The Warriors are expected to sign free-agent point guard Chris Chiozza to a two-way contract, a league source confirmed with The Chronicle.

Chiozza, 25, will offer Golden State much-needed backcourt depth. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said he was interested in signing a backup point guard in free agency, but the team couldn’t add a more coveted point guard such as Patty Mills.

After signing three forwards — Otto Porter Jr., Nemanja Bjelica and Andre Iguodala — in recent days, Golden State zeroed in on Chiozza as a twoway-contract player. It’s unclear what’s in store for guard Nico Mannion, a restricted free agent who averaged 4.1 points, 2.3 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game as a rookie on a two-way contract.
