Roberta “Birdie” Jensen

September 25, 1934 - August 4, 2021

Roberta, “Birdie” Jensen was born Roberta Allene Sunde on Sept. 25, 1933 the eldest of 4 children.

Birdie attended Everett Jr. High and Polytechnic High School in San Francisco graduating in 1951.

She met Gordon, “Gordie” Jensen at their church, Bethel Temple, SF. and were married on June 26, 1953. In November 1954 they had their first child, Kenneth soon followed by Becky, then Janet and lastly, Richard.

They raised their family in Daly City. Her home became a place of many gatherings filled with precious memories. Many friends and missionaries from all over the world found a seat at her table.

Birdie worked for KaiserPermanente, as a Teacher’s Aide at Westlake Elementary School and as the bookkeeper for E. Jensen & son, her husband’s business. Most importantly she was a wonderful stay-at-home mom.

She was an accomplished seamstress, also enjoying knitting, quilting and needlepoint.

Birdie was actively involved in church ministry and took many short-term mission trips to Haiti and Kenya.

Her love of God showed through every aspect of her life. On August 4th, she stepped into eternity to join the Lord that she loved.

Birdie was preceded in death by her grandson, David Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Gordon Jensen, brothers; Ronald (and Torunn) Sunde, Timothy (and Rachel) Higgins, sister -Donna (and Iddo) Van Spall, Sons; Kenneth (and Betty) Jensen, Richard (and Mary) Jensen, daughters; Becky (and Edward) Litwin, Janet (and Fred) Gutierrez, 11 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Reality Church (formerly Bethel Temple) 1325 Valencia St. SF at 3:00pm Sunday, August 15.
