Lotti Le Baron

May 24, 1938 - August 30, 2021

Lieselotte (Lotti) Martha Guth Le Baron passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021 at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her family as she gently took her last breath. Lotti lived in her home in Forest Hill, San Francisco for over 50 years.

Lotti was born on May 24th, 1938 in Lörrach, Germany to Martha Kanngiesser

Guth and Josef Guth alongside her twin sister, Heidi. Martha rode her bicycle to the hospital to deliver the twins because her husband was off serving in the war. Her older brother, Armin, was born 18 months prior— Martha left him with the farmer next door during the delivery. Lotti grew up in southern Germany, walking to school with her siblings and their pet chicken. She attended business college and studied to become a secretary. After graduation, she moved to Canada at the age of 18 to join her brother, Armin, in Toronto. She began working as a secretary, and her company eventually moved to San Francisco. Her boss requested that she move to the US to continue her career. She worked for States Marine Lines, American President Lines and The California Freie Presse—the German newspaper in San Francisco. Lotti married Robert Le Baron and they built a wonderful life together as she supported him in his role as an executive in the food business. He preceded her in death in 2000, and we know they are now reunited.

She loved her daily walks in Golden Gate Park, visiting the de Young Museum, gardening, and attending social gatherings with the De Paul Seniors, the German Ladies’ Benevolent Society and the Concordia Soccer Club. She enjoyed lunches and dinners with loved ones at her regular haunts: The Gold Mirror and Marcello’s.

Lotti is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Jay) Leupp and grandchildren Robert (Allison), Christina and Madeline, and her stepson, Peter (Michelle), and grandchildren Robert (Greta) and Eric (Maddie), her brother, Armin (Syliva) Guth and her twin sister, Heidi Rossey.
