FRIDAY

#13 Bellarmine (1-0) vs. No. 18 San Leandro (2-0) at Burrell Field, San Leandro — The Bells probably didn’t want a week off after a 56-41 win over then-No. 8 Menlo-Atherton. Bellarmine has won all six meetings with San Leandro, though the last was in 2014. San Leandro has wins at Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa (20-17) and Freedom-Oakley (55-44).

Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland (0-1) at #16 El Cerrito (1-1) — Following a 6-0 loss to Marin Catholic-Kentfield, the host Gauchos squashed previously 16th-ranked Vintage-Napa 26-6. O’Dowd hopes to rebound from a 34-7 loss to No. 4 San Ramon Valley-Danville.

#17 De Anza-Richmond (1-0) at #6 McClymonds-Oakland (1-0) — The three-time state champion Warriors will need to deal with De Anza running back Malakhi DeMoss, who had 12 carries for 173 yards and two TDs in a 19-7 win over Moreau Catholic-Hayward.

#7 Valley Christian (2-0) at #3 Pittsburg (0-1) — Great passing matchup of Valley Christian’s Jakson Berman-to-Jurrion Dickey and Pittsburg’s Jaden Rashada-to-Rashid Williams. Look for lots of yards and points.

Lincoln (0-1) vs. Lodi (1-1) at Grape Bowl, 7:15 p.m. — The twotime state champion Mustangs replaced their game against South San Francisco by traveling to one of the great venues in Northern California. Lodi opened with a 28-0 loss to Edison-Stockton before a 40-6 win over Chavez-Stockton.

#1 De La Salle (2-0) at #5 St. Francis (1-0), 7:30 p.m — Great physical matchup up front. Many St. Francis seniors no doubt recall a 48-0 loss at De La Salle in 2019, the teams’ last meeting. DLS’ new running trio is quite balanced: Charles Greer (157 yards, 11.2 yards per carry), A.J. Bianchina (150, 11.5) and Zeke Barber (147, 11.3).

SATURDAY St. Mary’s-Stockton (0-2) at #19 St. Ignatius (2-0), 1 p.m. —

Don’t be fooled by the records. St. Mary’s has lost at state powers De La Salle (52-16) and Central Catholic-Modesto (41-27). The Wildcats, led by senior QB Aidan Smith, beat Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton 13-7 last week after a 28-7 win at Palo Alto.
