Hield, Haliburton lead Sacramento past Detroit

Buddy Hield scored 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 17 points and 10 assists as the Kings routed the Pistons 129-107 in Detroit on Monday night.

The Kings ended a fourgame losing streak, taking control with a 26-2 run for a 33-12 lead early in the second quarter.

“We knew we needed to do something to get better on this road trip,” Haliburton said. “You always want to win games, but this was a situation where we needed to win one.”

De’Aaron Fox had 19 points and nine assists for Sacramento, which had six players with at least 15 points.

Cade Cunningham had 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Detroit. Saddiq Bey scored 28, but no one else reached double figures for the Pistons.

Mavericks 111, Nuggets 101:

Kristaps Porzingis had 29 points and 11 rebounds to help host Dallas rally past Denver. The Mavericks opened the fourth period on a 17-6 run to go ahead 98-88 with six minutes left, their largest lead to

that point.

Hawks 129, Magic 111: Trae

Young and John Collins each scored 23 points in Atlanta’s home win over Orlando. Clint

Capela finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds and Bogdan Bogdanovic­h added 20 points for the Hawks.

Celtics 98, Cavaliers 92: Jayson Tatum scored 23 points and Dennis Schroder had six points in the final 76 seconds as Boston beat Cleveland, splitting their two-game set at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Heat 103, Thunder 90: Tyler Herro scored 26 points and shorthande­d Miami beat host Oklahoma City. Duncan Robinson scored 21 points and Kyle Lowry added 11 points and 11 assists for the Heat.

Grizzlies 136, Rockets 102: Ja Morant had 22 points, six rebounds and six assists in a Memphis blowout, sending visiting Houston to its 12th straight loss.

Wizards 105, Pelicans 100: Spencer Dinwiddie scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half, and host Washington erased a 19-point deficit to beat New Orleans for its fifth consecutiv­e victory.

Knicks 92, Pacers 84: Immanuel Quickley came off the bench to score 16 points and host New York limited Indiana to two baskets in the fourth quarter to rally for a victory. Kemba Walker also had 16 points for the Knicks.

Suns 99, Timberwolv­es 96: Chris Paul scored 19 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, Devin Booker had 29 and visiting Phoenix beat Minnesota for its ninth straight win.

Blazers 118, Raptors 113: CJ McCollum had 29 points and Damian Lillard added 24 to lead Portland past Toronto. The Blazers, who were playing the second of a back-toback, improved to 6-1 at home.

Fined: The NBA fined the Timberwolv­es $250,000 on Monday for violating league rules that prohibit teams from arranging or paying for offseason practice or group workout sessions for their players outside their home market. The punishment was connected to team activities that took place in the Miami area in early September, the league announced. Timberwolv­es coaches, players and staff gathered for on-court work and off-court bonding in south Florida, where new co-owner Alex Rodriguez resides.
