Tigers, Baez agree to deal

Javier Baez reportedly has agreed to a $140 million, sixyear contract with Detroit, giving the Tigers a dynamic bat for the middle of their order.

Baez, who turns 29 on Wednesday, hit .265 with 31 homers and 87 RBIs in 138 games with the Cubs and Mets this season.

Marlins, Rays moves: The Miami Marlins completed the signing of right-hander Sandy Alcantara to a five-year contract, plus they acquired AllStar infielder Joey Wendle from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Alcantara, Miami’s Opening Day starter the past two seasons, and the Marlins agreed Sunday to a $56 million deal.

Wendle was acquired in exchange for minor-league outfielder Kameron Misner.

The Rays also signed former Astros reliever Brooks Raley to a $10 million, two-year contract with a club option for 2024.

White Sox sign Graveman: Kendall Graveman agreed to a $24 million, three-year contract with the Chicago White Sox. Graveman, 30, is expected to pitch in front of fellow ex-A’s reliever Liam Hendriks, who had 38 saves and a 2.54 ERA in his first season with Chicago.

Chicago also brought back utilityman Leury Garcia with a three-year contract.

Briefly: Infielder Gio Urshela agreed to a $6.55 million, oneyear contract with the Yankees, while starting pitcher Domingo German agreed to $1.75 million and pitcher Lucas Luetge to $905,000 . ... The Cubs agreed to a $13 million, two-year contract with catcher Yan Gomes, 34, who played for Washington and Oakland this year . ... ExReds right-hander Michael Lorenzen agreed to a $6.75 million, one-year contract with the Angels . ...
