In 2018, in the regular-season finale in Los Angeles, the big story in the 49ers’ 48-32 loss to the Rams was a milestone: George Kittle set an NFL single-season record for the most receiving yards by a tight end.

Three seasons later, in Sunday’s regular-season finale in Los Angeles, the big story will be whether the 49ers clinch a playoff berth with a win.

However, a host of notable individual marks will be within reach:

⏩ Running back Elijah Mitchell (878 yards) needs 122 rushing yards to become the 49ers’ first 1,000-yard rusher since Frank Gore had 1,106 yards in 2014.

⏩ Mitchell has five 100-yard rushing games this season, matching the fourth-most in franchise history. He can join Garrison Hearst (six) in third place with 100 yards Sunday.

⏩ Kittle needs 100 receiving yards to post the third 1,000yard receiving season of his career. Kittle would join Jerry Rice (12) and Terrell Owens (five) as the only players in franchise history to have at least three 1,000-yard seasons.

⏩ Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (1,310 yards) could become the first 49ers teammates to each have 1,000 receiving yards in the same season since Rice (1,157) and Owens (1,097) in 1998.

⏩ Samuel needs 68 receiving yards to have the most receiving yards by a 49er since Owens had 1,412 in 2001. Kittle had 1,377 yards in 2018.

⏩ Samuel has five 100-yard receiving games this season. With 100 yards, he can join Owens (2001) and Dwight Clark (1982) in a tie for fourth place in franchise history with six. Rice owns the top three spots: He had nine in 1995, eight in 1989 and seven in 1990.

⏩ Defensive end Nick Bosa has 15 sacks, which is tied for the fifth-most in franchise history. He would join Hall of Famer Charles Haley in fourth place with a sack Sunday. Aldon Smith (19.5, 2012), Fred Dean (17.5, 1983) and Tim Harris (17, 1992) have the top three sack seasons in franchise history.

⏩ If Jimmy Garoppolo plays — and plays out of his mind — he can become the 49ers’ first quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards since Jeff Garcia in 2000.

Garoppolo (3,494 yards) needs a mere 506 yards Sunday to reach 4,000.
