Postponed game tally reaches 101

-

The total of NHL games postponed this season because of the coronavirus grew to 101 on Friday as two Ottawa Senators games — at Vancouver on Saturday and at Winnipeg on Jan. 15 — were postponed because of attendance restrictions in several Canadian provinces.

The move came a day after Detroit’s game at Anaheim was postponed just hours before it was to begin because of the Ducks’ coronavirus issues. That game was rescheduled for Sunday.

⏩ Toronto forwards Mitch Marner and Pierre Engvall, Montreal forward Alex Belzile and defenseman Kale Clague, New Jersey defensemen Dougie Hamilton and Mason Geertsen, Columbus center Alexandre Texier, New York Rangers forward Julien Gauthier and Edmonton forward Kailer Yamamoto were among the players placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols.

The Canadiens have 24 players and two assistant coaches on the protocols list.
