Darlene Michelle Senkir passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 after a courageous four and a half year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Darlene grew up in San Francisco, the eldest of three children. She attended Mark Twain Elementary School and Lincoln High School. She later earned a degree from Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont and worked for many years as an Executive Assistant in the biotechnology industry.

Darlene and her late husband, Jerry, were worldwide travelers. She enjoyed immensely their vacations to Europe and Asia, wine tasting adventures in Napa Valley and Paso Robles, annual trips to Oregon, evenings at the theater, whale watching, and regular golf outings.

Health, fitness, and friendships were always front and center for Darlene. Whether it be yoga classes on the coast, hikes at Sawyer Camp, bunco, or lunch on Burlingame Avenue with friends, she met every moment with energy and positivity.

Darlene is predeceased by her parents, Al and Rosemary Lapuyade; and husband, Jerry Senkir. She leaves behind a sister, Catherine Doyle; niece Caitlin Doyle (Dan Reed); brother Thomas Lapuyade; sister-in-law Barbara Hall; cousin Kathy Pariani (Mike); extended family members including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and devoted friends and neighbors she cherished so much.

Due to the prevalence of COVID-19, there are no immediate plans for a service. She will be laid to rest during a private burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UCSF Memory and Aging Center or By the Bay Health (formerly Hospice By the Bay).

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation and gratitude to Darlene’s care teams at Hospice and Sunrise of Burlingame for the extremely compassionate and attentive care they provided.
