Cal women can’t maintain late lead, lose at UCLA

The Cal women’s team couldn’t pull out a victory as UCLA put together a late 13-3 run to win 59-54 at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday.

With about five minutes left, the Bears led 43-41 after Cailyn Crocker’s jumper. Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep alum Ilmar’l Thomas, who had a team-high 16 points, then got the run started for the Bruins (10-7, 5-5 Pac-12) with a three-point play and another basket. Chantel Horvat and Charisma Osborne had four points each in that stretch.

Jazlen Green led Cal (10-6, 1-4) with 17 points. All five of her baskets were from beyond the arc. Jayda Curry had 12 points and six rebounds.

#8 Arizona 73, OSU 61: Cate Reese had 19 points and Koi Love came off the bench to score a season-high 16 as the Wildcats (17-3, 7-3 Pac-12) won their 15th straight home game. Despite leading for all but 76 seconds, they struggled to put away the Beavers (11-7, 4-4) until the fourth quarter. Talia Van Oelhoffen led Oregon State with 17 points.

ASU 55, #19 Oregon 55: Jade Loville scored six of her 16 points in the fourth quarter, Ayzhiana Basallo scored 10 points with six assists off the bench and the host Sun Devils (11-8, 3-3 Pac-12) beat the Ducks. Endyia Rogers scored 18 points for Oregon (14-7, 7-3).

Utah 72, WSU 66: Brynna

Maxwell scored 12 point off the bench for the host Utes (13-7, 4-4 Pac-12). Johanna Teder’s 16 points led the Cougars (14-7, 6-4).

Colorado 66, Washington 43: The host Buffaloes (15-6, 4-6 Pac-12), who outscored Washington 43-20 after halftime, got 20 points from Mya Hollingshe­d. Nancy Mulkey’s 16 points led the Huskies (5-11, 0-8).

#4 Louisville 100, Syracuse 64: Liz Dixon had a season-high 18 points and Kianna Smith had 16 as the visiting Cardinals (21-2, 11-1 ACC) won their sixth straight. Syracuse (9-12, 2-9) has stumbled since a six-game win streak, losing eight of nine.

#5 Indiana 64, Purdue 57:

Nicole Cardano-Hillary scored 19 points and Grace Berger 17 for the host Hoosiers (16-3, 8-1 Big Ten). Jeanae Terry led the Boilermake­rs (13-10, 4-8) with 14 points.

#6 Michigan 98, #21 Iowa 90:

Naz Hillmon scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds, and the host Wolverines (20-2, 11-1 Big Ten) won despite 46 points from Caitlin Clark, who was the lone bright spot for the Hawkeyes (15-6, 9-3).

#10 UConn 75, Tennessee 66:

Freshman Azzi Fudd made the most of her first start with a personal-high 25 points for the host Huskies (15-4). Fudd was playing in her eighth game this season after injuring her foot in November. This was the 25th meeting in the series that was renewed in 2020 after a 13-year hiatus. The Lady Vols (19-4) got 26 points from Jordan Horston.

#9 Baylor 63, #13 Texas 55:

NaLyssa Smith scored 28 points and the visiting Bears (17-5, 7-3 Big 12) beat the Longhorns for the 13th straight time and the second time in three days. Joanne AllenTaylo­r’s

18 points led Texas (15-6, 5-5).

Florida 54, #14 Georgia 51: Zipporah Broughton scored the final four points as the visiting Gators (17-6, 7-3 SEC) rallied for the win. Malury Bates led the Bulldogs (17-5, 6-4) with 13 points.

#17 Maryland 80, Nebraska 65: Chloe Bibby scored 21 points and the host Terrapins (17-6, 9-3 Big Ten) won their fifth straight. Ashley Scoggin led the Huskers (17-5, 6-5) with 20 points.

Florida State 70, #20 Notre Dame 65: Valencia Myers finished with 14 points and eight rebounds to help the host Seminoles (11-10, 5-6 ACC) beat the Fighting Irish for the first time. Olivia Miles had 17 points and four assists to pace Notre Dame (18-5, 9-3).

#24 North Carolina 85, Miami 38:

Deja Kelly scored 18 points and the host Tar Heels (18-4, 8-4 ACC) led 28-2 after a quarter. Kelsey Marshall led the Hurricanes (12-9, 5-6) with 15 points.

MEN #6 Houston 80, Cincinnati 58:

Fabian White Jr. scored 22 points and the visiting Cougars (20-2, 9-0 American) won their 12th straight game. David DeJulius scored 25 points for the Bearcats (15-7, 5-4).

#15 Providence 71, Georgetown 52: Jared Bynum scored a career-high 32 points and the visiting Friars (20-2, 10-1 Big East) won their seventh in a row, sending the Hoyas (6-15, 0-10) to their school-record 11th straight loss.

#16 Ohio State 82, Maryland 67: E.J. Liddell had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the host Buckeyes (14-5, 7-3 Big Ten) dominated. Donta Scott scored 25 points for the Terps (11-12, 3-9).
