Crosby scores goal No. 499 in Penguins’ win

Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby scored his 499th career regularsea­son goal as the Penguins rallied from a two-goal deficit and beat the Bruins 4-2 in Boston on Tuesday night.

Danton Heinen scored twice in a span of 28 seconds in the second period and Crosby added another score with 7:07 left in the frame, moving him one goal from joining Washington’s Alex Ovechkin as the only active players to score 500 goals in the regular season.

Tristan Jarry stopped 43 shots for the Penguins, and Bryan Rust scored into an empty net with 1:29 left in the third as Pittsburgh snapped a four-game winless streak.

Crosby put Pittsburgh up 3-2 at 12:53 of the second after Rust hit the side of the goal with a shot, then took the puck behind the net for a quick pass to Crosby for a one-timer.

Senators 4, Hurricanes 3: Brady Tkachuk snapped a 15-game scoring drought with two goals and Anton Forsberg stopped 42 shots as host Ottawa topped Carolina.

Andrei Svechnikov, Brendan Smith and Vincent Trocheck scored third-period goals for the Hurricanes, who trailed 4-0 before their rally.

Blue Jackets 5, Capitals 4:

Boone Jenner scored with 44.4 seconds remaining to give Columbus a victory.

Elvis Merzlikins made 29 stops for the Blue Jackets, who began a five-game trip with their third consecutiv­e road win.

Jets 3, Wild 0: Mark Scheifele scored midway through the first and Nate Schmidt and Paul Stastny added goals late in the third as host Winnipeg halted Minnesota’s six-game winning streak.

Devils 7, Canadiens 1: Michael McLeod scored twice and New Jersey clobbered host Montreal to snap a seven-game losing streak.

Medical report: Vegas defenseman Zach Whitecloud will be out indefinite­ly because of a broken foot, the team announced . ... Three Winnipeg players — Neal Pinonk, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Austin Poganski — have entered the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols, as has Edmonton goalie Mikko Koskinen . ... Briefly: Tampa Bay forward Pat Maroon signed a two-year, $2 million extension through the 2023-24 season. Maroon, 33, has seven goals and six assists this season . ... The Blues signed two players to extensions, with defenseman Robert Bortuzzo inking a two-year, $1.9 million deal that takes him through the 2023-24 season and center Logan Brown getting a one-year, $750,000 deal for next season . ... The Canadiens, who currently are limited to 500 fans for home games, will be allowed to have 50% capacity for home games beginning Feb. 21, Quebec’s premier announced. ... The Kraken claimed forward Austin Czarnik off waivers from the Islanders.
