Aileen Kathleen Scully (O’Brien) of San Francisco passed away on 1/29/22 at the family home with her children by her side.

Aileen was born to Joseph John O’Brien and Ursula Beatrice (McCormick) on 3/27/1935 in San Francisco. She attended St. Agnes Grammar School and graduated from Presentati­on High School. Aileen earned a bachelor’s degree from Holy Names College in 1957.

Aileen married the late Joseph Francis Scully in 1958 and raised a family. They lived together until Joe’s death in 1997. Aileen is survived by her son Mike (Napa), Tim (Napa) and daughter Ann (San Francisco.) Although not their biological mother, Aileen always considered her children’s spouses her own children: Mary (Mike), Irene (Tim) and Gaetano (Ann.)

She is also survived by her 8 grandchild­ren, Meghan, Matt, Michael, Nicholas, Catrina, Cliodhna, Marcella and Carrig and 6 great grandchild­ren, Lucia, Rocky, Jaxton, Ben, Mary and Ford, who were all a huge part of her life.

Aileen was an educator for the San Francisco Unified School district for over forty years and taught several grades between kindergart­en and 8th . After retiring, Aileen split her time between her home in the Haight Ashbury and the river house outside Healdsburg in Sonoma County.

A viewing at 11, Rosary at 11:30, and Funeral Mass at 12 noon will celebrate her life on Saturday 2/12/22 at St. Agnes Church,1025 Masonic in San Francisco.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be offered to St. Agnes Church which was an important part of Aileen’s life.
