Alice O’Reilly

November 10, 1929 - April 28, 2022

Alice died in Sonora, Ca on April 28th. She had had lived with dementia for several years. She was born in Hugginstown, County Kilkenny, Ireland on 11/10/1929 and was the last surviving member of a family of eleven. She was predeceased by her husband, Pat, who died in November 2000.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Seamus O’Reilly (Copperopolis CA), Maurice O’Reilly (Carlow, Ireland,), Mary Rea (Dublin, Ireland), Margaret Dade (Carlow, Ireland) Patrick O’Reilly (Carlow, Ireland) & Richard O’Reilly (Livermore, CA)., Adored Nanny to Michael, Patrick & Brendan Gardiner, Elana Curran, Evan O’Reilly, Laura O’Reilly, Emily LeBlanc, Lisa & Sean Rea, Mary Alice Cooper, Liam & Molly O’Reilly, Jeremy & Matthew O’Reilly, She was a loving Aunt to numerous Nieces and Nephews in Ireland & the U.S. She was great grandmother to 21 children with more on the way.

Alice and her husband Pat arrived in San Francisco in December of 1964 with five children and added one more shortly thereafter. They settled in St. Elizabeth Parish in the Portola District.

They eventually moved to Walnut Creek. She spent the last three years at the home of her son in Copperopolis, CA.

Alice worked hard and loved the life she made for her family in the Bay Area. She was a charter member of the United Irish Cultural Center. She and Pat enjoyed being part of a large social network in the Irish community. She loved to cook and entertain, the larger the group the better. Grandchildren were the love of her life. She was the best babysitter ever.

She enjoyed numerous trips back to her native Ireland to visit family and friends.

At our mother’s request a private family funeral has been held. She is interred with her husband, Pat, in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. She will be truly missed. R.I.P.
