Marcia Shin was fatally struck by a car while walking on May 21, 2022.She was 81 years old.

Marcia was born in Geneva, Illinois, the youngest of Clifford and Mildred Wilson’s four children. She attended Northern Illinois University, graduating with a major in elementary education. After college, she visited San Francisco and fell in love with the city and moved there, initially living with a cousin of her mother’s. A few years later, she met her husband James Y. Shin, who she was married to until his death in 2008. They purchased their first home in the Richmond District where Marcia lived ever since. For many years, she worked for Samuel Scheuer Linens in downtown San Francisco.

Beneath her gentle demeanor was a quick wit and an adventurous spirit up for anything. Marcia enjoyed travel, dining out, and was a lover of the arts. She supported the San Francisco Public Library and several of the city’s museums, and until very recently, served as a docent at the de Young Museum. She was an avid fan of the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants and liked a good mystery or movie. A daily walker, she logged miles all over San Francisco and the world.

Marcia had a wide circle of friends and stayed connected to everyone in her family, both in South Korea and in the States. Houseguests were many and were always welcome; she will be remembered as the best host and tour guide in all of San Francisco and for being fun company.

Marcia is survived by her brother Robert Wilson (Martha) nephews David Wilson (Debbie), Kenneth Rivera (Janice), Jared Linley (Kirsten), Todd Linley, Steve Wilson, Jay Shin, and nieces Cary Romano (Joe) and Jan Linley, several great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
