Regina (Elaine) Heramia Arenas Mejia was born September 20, 1928 in Calasiao, Pangasinan in the Republic of the Philippine­s, the third child of 11 children. Her first husband was Henry Aquino Arenas and her second husband was Abraham Hussein, both deceased. She is survived by her daughter, Tessie Arenas, husband Chris Ormsby, her grandson John, wife Michelle; her son, Peter Arenas, his wife Christine, her granddaugh­ter Rachelle, husband Ben and grandson Brendan, wife Danielle; her other daughter, Carol Medina, grandsons, Lano and his wife Jolie and Julian. Her great grandchild­ren are Jade, Jeremy, Sofia, Ella, Mia, Miguel, Mikayla, respective­ly.

She was a survivor of World War II in the Philippine­s where she described having to jump into foxholes when the bombing started. She also played baseball as shortstop in the Philippine­s and became an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants when she came to the United States.

While an employee of UCSF, she became a member of the San Francisco Choral Society. She just loved to sing. She participat­ed with 650 choral members in Wembley Stadium backing up Luciano Pavarotti. She also performed at Carnegie Hall.

She’s traveled all over the world, loved to ski and loved to exercise with the Cayuga Connectors.

Special thanks to Fely, Jessie, Eiver, Até Fe, Estella, Princess and Menchie, we couldn’t have done it without you. We would also like to express our gratitude to Jennifer and staff at Sutter Health Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Ray Dolby Brain Health Center or the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n in Regina’s name.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 4pm-7pm with Rosary starting at 6pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary located at 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, CA.

Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Brendan’s Church located at 29 Rockaway Ave., San Francisco, CA Burial will be at 12:00 pm at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA
