Theodore (Ted) Merlo Lowpensky (July 3, 1943 March 25, 2022) resident of Hillsborough, CA recently passed away peacefully at home from kidney failure. Ted was born in San Francisco to Ted and Vivian Lowpensky. He married Bernice in 1965 and they were married for 55 years. They had two children, Mark and Todd. Bernice preceded him in death in 2020 after fighting Alzheimer’s. Ted was a proud grandfather of three grandchildren. He is survived by his son Mark, Mark’s wife Caroline, granddaughter Alexis and his son Todd, Todd’s wife Cinda and grandsons Jessie and Jasper.

Ted’s father passed away when he was quite young and he bought the family business, Lowpensky Moulding, from his mother. He expanded the existing business and eventually moved it to a nearby surplus naval building which he purchased in 1981. He worked full time running the business until he sold it in 2019. His real estate investing started with residential, eventually transitioning to commercial real estate in the late 1970s. His son Todd came to work with him starting in 2000 and continues to manage the real estate today.

In 1978 Ted and Bernice bought a forest service cabin outside of Chester, California. This purchase renewed Ted’s interest in flying, which led to him earning his private and instrument pilot’s licenses and the purchase of a Cessna 206. Ted loved to fly and Bernice went with him - despite the fact that she often kissed the ground after they had landed safely. Bernice managed to get Ted to go on a few large family vacations, but his true escape was always to Chester.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ted’s name to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or a charity of your choice.
