Gausman strikes out 10 to end Boston win streak

Kevin Gausman matched a season high with 10 strikeouts over seven innings, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit one of three Toronto home runs and the Blue Jays halted Boston’s seven-game winning streak, beating the Red Sox 7-2 Monday night in Toronto.

Guerrero hit a two-run homer, his 18th of the season, Matt Chapman also hit a two-run blast and George Springer added a solo shot as Toronto improved to 6-2 against Boston.

Gausman (6-6) snapped a four-start losing streak, winning for the first time since May 31 against the White Sox.

Gary Sanchez had four RBIs and Sonny Gray pitched seven superb innings to help visiting Minnesota stretch its lead in the AL Central with an 11-1 blowout of Cleveland. Nationals 3, Pirates 2: Maikel Franco hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning, and host Washington beat Pittsburgh. Top prospect Oneil Cruz hit his first homer of the season for the Pirates.

Angels, Mariners suspended: Angels interim manager Phil Nevin was suspended 10 games and Seattle outfielder Jesse Winker received a fivegame ban from Major League Baseball for their roles in a benches-clearing brawl during the second inning of Sunday’s game.

Seattle shortstop J.P. Crawford, Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon and Angels assistant pitching coach Dom Chiti were suspended for five games. Angels pitchers Ryan Tepera and Andrew Wantz (three); Seattle outfielder Julio Rodriguez, Angels reliever Raisel Iglesias, Angels bench coach Ray Montgomery and major-league interprete­r Manny Del Campo (two); and Angels catching coach Bill Haselman (one) were also suspended.

Santana to Mariners: The Royals traded first baseman Carlos Santana and nearly $4.3 million to Seattle for right-handers Wyatt Mills and William Fleming, clearing the way for Kansas City to bring up prospect Vinnie Pasquantin­o.
