Four males — three adults and a 17-year-old — were arrested on suspicion of committing a string of home invasion robberies, including two incidents in which they allegedly tied up and assaulted older couples while robbing them, San Jose police said Thursday.

The men, identified as 19-year-old Armando Manzano, 19-year-old Daniel Mendez and 23-year-old Eduardo Santiago, were allegedly involved in three separate home invasions in San Jose. The name of the juvenile suspect was not released.

On May 31, police responded to a home on the 600 block of North Capitol Avenue around 3:50 p.m., where they found that an older couple had been tied up with belts and violently assaulted by the suspects, according to a San Jose police press release.

The men fled in the victim’s vehicle and allegedly used it for a second home invasion shortly after in the 1000 block of Summerdale Drive, where they allegedly held a man and his 15-month-old child at gunpoint. The suspects allegedly threatened to shoot the child before forcing the man to withdraw money from his bank.

During the third incident, at the 4000 block of Bolero Drive on June 7, the suspects allegedly held another older couple at gunpoint and “violently assaulted them.” One of the victims contacted the police during the incident, and two of the suspects were detained while fleeing the scene.

Manzano, who was previously arrested for allegedly evading police, had been released from jail the day prior to the third alleged invasion.

Santiago and the 17year-old boy were identified as suspects and arrested at their residences after police recovered various stolen property inside the homes.

Santiago, Manzano and Mendez were in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, police said.
