Three men and a teenager were charged with conspiracy and drug-related felonies after authorities seized about 20 pounds of fentanyl at locations in San Francisco and Oakland, authorities said Friday.

The men, ages 25, 29 and 32, were arrested Wednesday by officials with the San Francisco Police Department working a joint investigation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, according to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.

The men were booked into the San Francisco County Jail. A 16-year-old also was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.

“Disrupting open air drug markets and making our neighborhoods safer begins with successful operations like this, where vast quantities of lethal drugs and weapons are taken off the market before they hit the streets,” Jenkins said in a statement. “The next step is ensuring that the suspected drug dealers are held accountable.”

Authorities recovered almost 6 pounds of fentanyl from the three men when they were arrested in San Francisco, according to Jenkins’ office. In addition, more than 14 pounds of fentanyl were found at two residences in Oakland connected to the suspects, Jenkins said.

At the Oakland homes, authorities also found a ghost gun, ammunition, a hydraulic press to produce pills, packaging materials, razor blades, blenders and containers of mannitol, a substance often combined with fentanyl in pills; and they retrieved more than $14,000, Jenkins said.

The suspects are charged with felony possession of fentanyl, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine for sale purposes and felony transportation of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine and heroin, according to Jenkins’ office. They also are charged with maintaining a place for selling or using a controlled substance.
