Anne Baudler

Anne died peacefully on January 31, 2023 at home surrounded by those who loved her. She was the daughter of John Morgan and Margaret Laughlin, the first of two children.

Anne grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in English. She married David Evan Baudler, an attorney. They had four children: Mark, Jay, Kassie and Matthew.

Anne taught Senior high school English in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Wellesley, Massachuse­tts and San Leandro, California. In 1987, Anne and her family moved to Manhattan. She earned a masters degree in social work at Columbia University. She also participat­ed in Clinical Pastoral Education Programs at several New York hospitals.

Anne worked as a social worker at the Lighthouse in New York, an organizati­on dedicated to helping those with vision loss. After returning to San Francisco in 1997, Anne worked at the Hospice of the East Bay for twenty-two years; eleven as a medial social worker and eleven years as a bereavemen­t counselor. Anne said that her time as a hospice and hospital volunteer at the Bruns House was her most satisfying work.

Despite not being an athlete, Anne was proud to have run in several halfmarath­ons.

Anne was a woman of faith, active in the ministries of her Corpus Christi parish.

A funeral mass celebratin­g Anne’s life will be held at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont, California on Saturday, March 4th. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Bruns House (of the Hospice of the East Bay).
