- Jon Michael Bugatto

We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Jon on November 19th after a short illness with an aggressive cancer, dedifferentiated liposarcoma, which he fought bravely without ever a complaint despite numerous complications. Jon attended St. Vincent de Paul grammar school and Sacred Heart Cathedral High School where he made many great friends. He always fondly remembered participating in the basketball and baseball games that returned the Bruce-Mahoney trophy back to SHC after many years absence. Jon received numerous baseball scholarship offers and was scouted by professional teams during his high school career as a pitcher. His promising baseball career was ultimately shortened by shoulder injuries. Jon eventually graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in history and plans to attend law school. During his fourth year of college, though, he was acutely affected by schizoaffective disorder which was severe and disabling and with which he struggled for many years. With courage and determination, he was ultimately able to overcome the depths of that illness to have a successful career working for local non-profit safety net programs in San Francisco. He received numerous promotions. Jon taught us all to never give up on one with a serious mental illness.

Jon greatly enjoyed family dinners and gatherings in addition to always following local sports especially the SF Giants and 49ers. He had a big heart with a calm nature, kindness, and care and concern for others. He will be deeply missed.

Jon was predeceased by his father B. John “Ben” and is survived by his mother Maria, siblings Barry (Lorrie), Annette (Rick), and Robert. He is dearly missed by his nephews and niece Anthony, Bettina and Ricky. He also leaves numerous cousins on both the Bugatto and DeMartini sides of the family.
