Curzan, Armstrong give U.S. more gold
With some of America's biggest stars deciding to stay home, Claire Curzan and Hunter Armstrong claimed the spotlight at the World Aquatics Championships at Doha, Qatar.
Curzan won gold in the women's 100-meter backstroke at the Aspire Dome. Armstrong followed a few minutes later with a victory in the men's 100 back.
The U.S. leads the swimming medal table with four golds and eight medals overall through the first three days of competition.

Zimmer served in the same role for Dallas 18 years ago. He later spent eight years as Minnesota's head coach.

College football: ESPN and the College Football Playoff have agreed to a six-year deal worth $1.3 billion annually that allows the network to keep exclusive rights to the 12-team playoff through the 2031 season, two people with knowledge of the agreement said.
The playoff expands from four teams to 12 this season but within a preexisting 12-year contract with ESPN that pays the CFP $608 million annually.
In another college football matter, an attorney for former Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald urged a judge Tuesday to move up the trial in a dispute over his firing, saying he can't get a major job until he puts a hazing scandal behind him.
Fitzgerald was fired last year after 17 years as head coach of the Wildcats. Fitzgeraldued the school for $130 million, claiming he was wrongly fired.
