Couple found dead in home ID’d
The San Francisco medical examiner’s office has identified the two people found dead in an apparent shooting inside a home in the Portola neighborhood.
The two victims were identified as Florinda Picazo, 48, and Oscar Picazo, 49. Both were San Francisco residents.
According to public records and neighbors, the pair were married and lived inside the home they were found in.
San Francisco police officers were dispatched to the scene at 28 Dwight St. around 8:45 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of an apparent shooting, police said.
The couple was found inside the home, police said. Spokespersons did not give additional information but said there was no greater threat to the community.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning.
Juanita Romero, 86, who lives next door and identified herself as Florinda Picazo’s aunt, said she had no sense of what unfolded inside the residence until she saw police cars close down the street.
Romero said although she wasn’t close with the family, the shooting was shocking.
A social media posting by members of San Francisco’s Teamsters Local 350 identified Oscar Picazo as a longtime member who began his career in 1995 at Recology Sunset in San Francisco.
He was a 29-year member of the union, they wrote.
Spokespersons for the city’s Department of Emergency Management said Florinda Picazo had worked in the department as a longtime 911 dispatcher.
“Everyone at DEM is in shock following the tragic loss of a beloved, long-serving 911 dispatcher,” spokespersons wrote. “This is an active investigation and we do not have any additional information to share. We defer to SFPD for updates regarding the investigation.”
