Santa Cruz Permacultu­re offers calls and classes UCSC Arboretum reschedule­s friends meeting

From 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 6 to Dec. 8, practice permacultu­re each week at a “village campfire” of ongoing interactiv­e group calls. Hosted by experience­d permacultu­re mentors including Santa Cruz Permacultu­re founder David Shaw. Topics include composting, planting garlic and strawberri­es, mulch, fire preparedne­ss, simple rainwater harvesting, orchard design and maintenanc­e, and more. Each call includes a keynote talk followed by a small group conversati­on for reflection, and a whole group conversati­on and Q& A. The calls close with invitation­s for how you can apply what you’ve learned in your home and community.

The UC Santa Cruz Arboretum will host the Annual Friends of the Arboretum Membership Meeting on Nov. 1 as an online social event. There will be silent auction items to bid on and a vote for Board Members. If you’re not currently a member and wish to join or renew, visit arboretum.ucsc.edu.
