Robbery suspects connected to incidents in four cities
SANTA CRUZ >> The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that a man and a teenager were arrested in connection to four robberies across the county.
Dalton Delaney, age 19, according to the county’s Superior Court portal, and a teenager were connected to robberies in Capitola, Santa Cruz, Soquel and
Live Oak, according to the Sheriff’s Office’s social media page.
During the robberies, victims reported being held at gunpoint and being robbed of multiple items. Through a search warrant obtained after descriptions, interviews and information gathered by detectives, deputies found an airsoft gun — suspected to be the gun used in the robberies.
Delaney was arrested and faces four seconddegree felony robber y charges, one felony prior serious conviction, three misdemeanors around brandishing a firearm and eight enhancements. No other information was available about the juvenile beyond the confirmation of his arrest.
Court documents show that Delaney and his teenage friend were arrested Dec. 2 and Delaney was arraigned Dec. 3. After pleading not guilty to all charges, Delaney’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 7.
Detectives on the case for the Sheriff’s Office believe there could be additional victims. Though photos of the suspects were not provided on the department’s social media, a photo of the suspected car used in the incidents was attached. The car was described as the getaway vehicle in “several other” incidents where individuals had a firearm pointed at them.
