Stanford-Arizona men’s basketball game still on schedule despite recent Bay Area lockdown measures.

The Stanford-Arizona men’s basketball game scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena is still a go, Zach Reynolds, an assistant director of communications for the Cardinal, said Thursday morning.

His statement comes in the wake of Santa Cruz County announcing it will join the rest of the Bay Area in a regional stayat-home order due to low ICU bed availability. The county order begins 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.

“We haven’t heard anything from the county on that front, but that doesn’t mean it won’t come,” Reynolds said. “As of now, we’re continuing forward.”

The same applies for Santa Clara (6- 0). The Broncos face San Jose State (1-2) on Friday at KP Arena at 6 p.m.

Fans will not be allowed to attend the games.

Reynolds said he’d gather more information at the team’s next practice. The Cardinal practiced at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Thursday at 2 p.m.

“We’re going hour-to-hour with some of our game scheduling,” said Reynolds, noting he’d put an update on gostanford.com later Thursday evening if changes were made to

the schedule.

Santa Cruz County communications manager Jason Hoppin didn’t believe the games would be in jeopardy.

“I don’t think there’s anything to prevent that,” he said. “We don’t have a local order (on college sports), we’re following the state.”

Reynolds said information is being relayed from Stanford’s administration to coaches, players, staff, and media department via Associate Athletics Director Adam Schneberger.

In addition to Saturday’s game, the Cardinal posted on its athletic website Thursday morning that it will face Cal State Bakersfield (2-2) at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Monday at 6 p.m. Both games are scheduled to be broadcast on Pac12 Networks.

The Cardinal (3-2) is coming off an 82-71 win at Cal State Northridge on Tuesday. Arizona (5- 0) canceled its nonconference game against Cal Baptist on Wednesday.

Santa Clara has played two NCAA games at Kaiser Permanente Arena and had two other games slated to take place in Santa Cruz canceled. The Broncos earned wins in Santa Cruz over Cal State Bakersfield on Dec. 2 and Fresno Pacific on Tuesday.

The Spartans on Thursday announced their men’s and women’s basketball teams have relocated to Arizona Grand Resort & Spa to conduct day-to- day operations.
