Barbara and Company Catering adds pantry items

-

Barbara and Company Catering now offers pantry items and other household essentials in addition to their signature weekly take-and-bake dinners. In October, co- owners/chefs Marina Camarlinghi and Victor Cuevas Sanchez pivoted their catering business due to the pandemic.

Every Sunday, they send out an email with that week’s menu, which serves three to five people (half servings are available). It’s usually an entrée plus salad and/or other sides. Add-ons like homemade bread and dessert are often available for additional fees. Pickup is from 2-4 p.m. Thursdays in front of the commercial kitchen at 2431 Chanticleer Ave. Past menus include chicken Parmesan with pesto cream tortellini, oven-roasted rainbow carrots, and salad with caramelized walnuts and bleu cheese crumbles. Upcoming entrees include chicken Piccata and beef Wellington. Starting this week, customers can also order products like disinfectant wipes, eggs, butter, bulk dry beans, 25-pound flour bags, and meats by the case such as pork chops. To get on the email list, contact barbaracompanycatering@gmail.com. Barbara & Co. has been in business since 1995; Marina and Victor took over in 2007. They

received a Readers’ Choice Sentinel award in 2018.

APTOS Palm Deli shortens hours temporarily

This week, The Palm

Deli (3000 Valencia Ave.) has shorter hours than usual due to a staff shortage. They are open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Sunday and hope to get back to their normal schedule next week. Visit thepalmdeli. com or call 831-688-3354.

aAPITOLA Shadowbrook Restaurant closes temporarily

Shadowbrook Restaurant (1750 Wharf Road, shadowbrook-capitola. com) decided to temporarily close until Santa Cruz County restaurants are given the go-ahead to serve customers inside their dining rooms. After outdoor dining was eliminated in early December due to California’s newest restrictions, Shadowbrook offered takeout food for the holidays, but this service has ended. “Expecting some cold, rainy months ahead, we believe it

would be best to close temporarily until such time we are again able to provide on-premise dining,” said co-owner Ted Burke. “We certainly aren’t quitting but are taking a break. Meanwhile, we’re taking care of our employees as best we can by providing health benefits at no cost to them. Moreover, we’re providing some income and food to employees who can’t qualify for unemployment benefits.”

offer takeout craft sandwiches (such as signature Maestro Giacomo with bacon-wrapped porchetta, plus vegetarian options), salads, cheeses, and charcuterie. There is also a marinated meat and seafood selection like last weekend’s ready-to-grill Santa Maria carne asada skirt steak. Kresge’s experience includes managing, operating, or consulting for Shadowbrook, Sotola, Vino Cruz, Seabright Deli and Belly Goat Craft Burgers. Current hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 831854-2184.
