Santa Cruz MUSEUM OF THE MACABRE: AN EVENING OF POTIONS, POISONS, AND PLANTS

Oct. 30, 6-9 p.m.

The public is invited to attend in costume the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History’s 5th annual Museum of the Macabre at Tyrrell Park and inside of the museum. The event will be bigger than ever with festivitie­s and special exhibits throughout the Museum and spreading outdoors into the park. One free drink is included with each ticket. Attendees must be 21 years old or older to enter. Presale tickets are $15. Tickets are $20 at the door and $5 off for museum members.

Activities include an outdoor screening of Little Shop of Horrors with Westside Video, “The Unnatural History of Houseplant­s” with the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum and Botanic Garden, a natural dye potion making, “Surprising Things That Can Kill You” with geochemist Gavin Piccione and a costume contest. Contestant­s must dress for this year’s theme, “potions, poisons and plants.”

Masks are required inside.

Santa Cruz GREATER PURPOSE BREWING COMEDY NIGHT

Friday, 7-9 p.m.

Every week, comics from across the Bay Area make their way to Greater Purpose Brewing to put on a show full of laughs. The show is hosted by DNA comedy lab and for people 21 years old or older. Individual­s must have proof of vaccinatio­n to attend. Masks are required.

Felton ROARING CAMP: HARVEST FAIRE AND STEAM FESTIVAL

Saturday and Sunday

Step into the incredible world of steam power at the Harvest Faire and Steam Festival presented by Kinetic Steam Works and Roaring Camp Railroads.

There will be children’s activities like scarecrow making, pumpkin patch picking, candle making and gold panning. A variety of steam and belt-powered equipment will be on display.

Great Strides, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraisin­g event offers hope to those living with cystic fibrosis. The Foundation’s mission is to cure cystic fibrosis and raise awareness about this rare, genetic disease that makes it difficult to breathe.

Walkers will meet at the National Bridges State Beach, 9-10a.m. depending on registrati­on status. Masks are recommende­d.
