Aptos tennis tandem blanked in CCS doubles tournament

Aptos High’s Annika Lee and Madison Phillips, the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League doubles champion, were eliminated in the first round of the Central Coast Section doubles tournament Tuesday.

Lee and Phillips lost 6-0, 6-0 to No. 2 seed Sophie Hernandez and Olivia Guo of Harker at Bay Club Courtside in Los Gatos.

The top four seeds — which includes No. 1 Erin Li and Iris Li of Palo Alto, No. 3 Tricia Zhang and Brynn Brady of Menlo and No. 4 Jolie

Wang and Lauren Smith of Saint Francis — all went 2-0 to reach Wednesday’s semifinals.

Li and Li dropped just one game in their two victories.

Women’s soccer

NORCAL PLAYOFFS >> Cabrillo (10-2-5) was awarded the No. 6 seed for the CCCAA NorCal Regional tournament and plays a home game Saturday in the first round.

The Seahawks, champion of the Coast Conference South Division, open against No. 11 Taft (15-5-1), the thirdplace finisher in the Central Valley Conference. The start time is TBA.

Women’s volleyball

CABRILLO 3, AT OHLONE 0 >> Jazmyn Tubbs had 17 kills and the Seahawks, Coast Conference champion for a 14th straight season, won 2513, 25-20, 25-3 in their regular-season finale Tuesday night.

Lindsay Heller added 16 kills for the Seahawks(16-7, 12-1), who await their NorCal seeding and the upcoming playoffs. Carly Ditz had five kills, 40 assists and eight digs.

Men’s basketball

AT CONTRA COSTA 78, CABRILLO 65 >> Austin James

had 24 points and five rebounds in the Seahawks’ loss Tuesday night. Teammate Brandon Harmon added 10 points and six rebounds.

Cabrillo (1-3) plays at Shasta (3-2) in the first round of the Shasta College Invitation­al on Thursday at 7 p.m.
